Course in professional dubbing: Give the characters your voice
Get practical experience in front of the microphone in a professional dubbing studio. From January 18th to 22nd 2027, the Danish Artist Union offers an intensive course where you work on voices, characters and acting, and conclude with your own voice audition.
How do you bring a cartoon character to life? And how do you use your voice when you need to add Danish dialogue to a foreign film?
The professional dubbing course provides a thorough introduction to the work and the opportunity to try out different aspects of your voice. The teaching takes place at Iyuno in Copenhagen NV in a small group with 6–8 participants.
Five mornings in front of the microphone
The course combines theory and background knowledge with practical exercises in the studio. You will try your hand at different genres and expressions: from cartoons for the youngest and odd-shaped characters to live-action dubbing and acting for feature films.
Along the way, you will receive instruction and coaching from an experienced dubbing instructor and a studio technician. You will also follow the work of the other participants and gain insight into how different voices and interpretations can bring a character to life.
The goal is to expand your repertoire and give you tools to work with your voice in a professional recording session. The course ends with you recording a voice sample that you can use as a business card in the industry.
Who can apply?
You need some experience in acting, for example from film, commercials, or theater. You don’t need to be a trained actor or work as an actor on a daily basis.
There are 6–8 places on the team. In the selection process, emphasis is placed on acting experience and a balanced gender distribution.
Learn from experienced dubbing instructors
The teaching is provided by either Sonny Lahey or Vibeke Dueholm together with a study technician. Both are among the most experienced dubbing instructors at Iyunos and work daily with films and series.
Sonny Lahey has worked on, among other things, Lightyear, Minions and Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio.
