Offence, harassment and
Transgressive behaviour

If you have been subjected to harassment, inappropriate behaviour or abuse - or are accused of being responsible for it - you can get help from the Danish Artist Association. All artists have the right to work in a respectful environment.

As a member of the union, you can get a personalised and confidential consultation to help you clarify your rights and options.

It is the professional assessment of your enquiry that sets the direction for how we can help - whether it's legal help or a need to talk to an external specialist in occupational health and safety issues.

We work based on the rules and legislation that cover work environment.

Have a disagreement with a colleague

No matter who you have a labour dispute with, you can have a confidential conversation. If it's a health and safety issue, the union can get involved professionally, with help and guidance.

Talk to a professional advisor

Contact Danish Artist Union Attorney Nathalie Rothe directly if you have experienced an offence. You decide what to talk about and the lawyer is bound by confidentiality.

A conversation about experiences of abusive behaviour is about:

  • Clarification: What happened and what do you need?
  • Overview: Who is responsible and where can you go if your rights are not respected?
  • Process: Should other parties be involved in the case? If so, when and how should this happen?

If you want anonymous counselling, you can have a conversation at Safe Room on tel. +45 70 20 99 99 99 from Tuesday to Friday between 15-17. The counselling line is open to everyone in the music and culture industry.

What are abusive behaviour?

It can be very different for each individual what they experience as offensive or transgressive.
The Danish Working Environment Authority defines abusive behaviour, including bullying and sexual harassment as "when one or more persons grossly or repeatedly subject other persons to behaviour that is perceived by those persons as degrading."

If you are accused of abusive behaviour

Being accused of inappropriate behaviour can have serious consequences - no matter what the case. Everyone has different boundaries. According to the Danish Working Environment Authority's definition, the victim's perception of the behaviour is important.

If you have been accused, you can talk through your case with one of our experienced counsellors and learn about liability and rights.

A conversation about abusive behaviour is about:

  • Clarification: What happened and what do you need?
  • Overview: Who is responsible for the work/project and what are your obligations and rights?
  • Process: What is the next step in the case and how should communication with the different parties take place?
