Freedom of artistic expression is under pressure in Croatia.

The Danish Artist Union supports the right to free artistic expression, which is currently under pressure in Croatia.

The union stands in solidarity with the international circus company Cue LPM, which is subjected to massive harassment after their latest performance.

The award-winning company, which has also performed in Denmark, is known for its wacky humour, a burlesque and clown-like style, where they celebrate life and challenge societal norms.

At a festival in Croatia, their performance ’Piti Peta Hofen Show’ was filmed and edited into a 43-second clip that takes the performance's exaggerated scenes out of context. The clip has been shared extensively on social media, and it has caused political pressure. The festival has been cancelled, and both the organiser and the artists are facing charges for violating laws related to child abuse and child pornography.

”We express our full support for artists fighting for the right to cultural diversity and artistic freedom, and also for the Croatian circus and theatre organisation DUSC, says Sara Indrio.
