Circus performers' achievements
gets noticed
When artist Daniel Shamita and the Scandinavian Boards troupe rotate in advanced somersaults and pirouettes, it takes place high in the air in the acrobatic discipline of teeterboard.
For this spectacular performance, he and the troupe received a Silver Bear at the Monte Carlo Festival 2025. The award is the circus world's answer to an Oscar, and it recognises that Daniel and the other 7 Scandinavian artists are in a class of their own internationally.
The circus performers' achievements are also noticed in Denmark.
Three of Denmark's leading circus artists: Signe Løve Anderskov, Henriette Aarup and Kajsa Bohlin have been nominated for Reumert of the Year with their performance The Fall. The three artists have worked professionally with not falling for over 20 years, and in the performance they unfold the phenomenon of 'falling' physically and existentially.
There is also a unique circus performance by artist and sword swallower Cecilia Gosilla in Christian Lollike's critically acclaimed version of the Holberg comedy Jeppe of the Mountain. The performance is also nominated for a Reumert.
Reumert is the performing arts industry's most prestigious award and The Fall is nominated for Special Performance of the Year. This year's Reumert will be awarded on 31 May.
