Artists in the Greenlandic music scene face the same challenges regarding contracts, copyright and rights as their colleagues in Denmark. Therefore, the Danish Artist Association also offers advice and guidance to artists and musicians in Greenland.
Knowledge is the key to better agreements and fairer working conditions, which is why it's especially important for the artist to know all the obligations and possibilities in an agreement. Because, explains Nathalie Rothe:
"The more insight the individual artist or musician has into the terms and contractual standards surrounding publishing and live performance, the stronger the artist is when it comes to negotiating finances and working conditions," she says.

Legal workshop for artists in Nuuk
The new legal workshop focuses on Greenlandic musicians' rights in copyright, royalty management and publishing agreements.
The workshop will take place in Nuuk in October and online participation will be possible for artists and musicians outside Nuuk.
Along the way, there will also be a practical review of contracts with concrete examples showing where and how to negotiate and protect your interests. The workshop concludes with individual sessions where musicians can ask questions about their own projects and challenges.
Right now, not everyone in the Greenlandic music scene has sufficient access to legal knowledge or sparring, and the target group is artists, musicians, composers and bands who want to strengthen their knowledge of legal aspects in the music industry.
The workshop is organised by EPI - Eqqumiitsuliornikkut Pinngorartitsisut Ingerlatsisullu - umbrella organisation for creative and performing artists in Greenland, in collaboration with Dansk Artist Forbund and supported by Gramex.
