"We get many important calls and great questions every day, but we can't promise no waiting time on the phone. In return, you'll wait for original music that we think matches the association, its members, and our work," says chairperson Sara Indrio.

Listen to the full waiting melody here:

The music is composed by Tilde Ingversen, aka. Guldlokk.

Of course, the Association of Music Artists has an original waiting music

The Danish Artist Association's board has been looking for a good alternative to the standard waiting tone that is played if there is a waiting time when a member calls to speak to an advisor.

Standard event music is generic and can't tell you anything about your members or organisation.

”Of course we can't have that in a union that organises music artists,” says Sara Indrio about the reason for creating a waiting tone.

A difficult artistic premise

From there, the association initiated a pitch round of ideas and received many good submissions from both very experienced and less experienced composers. The selection was made by a ’jury’ composed of the board, secretariat and an external member.

”Of course, it's a difficult artistic premise to write music for a fifteen-second loop. That's why we're happy that the intention of the music shines through so well in Tilde's composition.” says Sara Indrio.

Hence this melody

Tilde Ingversen, who has previously composed music for the TV series, was the clear choice Inside with Anders Agger and work on integrating music in therapeutic contexts.

”Tilde has worked with frequencies that work well in the very compressed phone sound. She has created a rhythmic figure that lends itself really well to repetition without becoming annoying, and she has managed to create a symbolism in sounds and arrangement that connotes different genres of music, the cliché of traditional circus music, and a sense of bouncing balls. Quite a feat in under two minutes,” says the committee.

Customised melody in balance

Tilde Ingversen, who is completing a bachelor's degree in songwriting at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, has composed a waiting tone that will capture the duality of life as an artist. When given the opportunity to create the Danish Artist Union's waiting tone, she wanted to express the experience of juggling multiple roles as a professional artist.

With the new customised waiting melody, the Danish Union of Performing Artists has a unique aural identity, a kind of ’sound logo’ that we hope members and other callers will welcome. It reflects the diversity of our membership, including the fact that historically and today we are a union for circus artists, performing artists and music artists. The new on-hold melody is now in use and we hope that calling us will now be an even better experience.
