As a recent graduate from an artistic education, you can get 3 months free membership of the Danish Artist Association and our specialised unemployment fund section of AJKS.
You have a special right to unemployment benefits as a recent graduate and member of an unemployment insurance fund.
To get this great offer, you must join the unemployment fund NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS after your last exam.
When am I entitled to unemployment benefits?
As a recent graduate, you are entitled to unemployment benefits if you are a member of an unemployment insurance fund and become unemployed. There is no accrual period, but a waiting period for new members of 1 month.
You are entitled to unemployment benefits from the first day of unemployment if you have been a free unemployment insurance fund member for at least 1 year during your education.
How much do I get in unemployment benefits?
If you are under 30 years old, you will receive DKK 15,081.00 per month for the first 3 months. After that, the rate drops to DKK 10,371.00 for those under 30 and DKK 13,100.00 for those over 30.
If you are an applicant, the rate is DKK 16,694.00. Newly graduated dependents get the same rate regardless of age and the amount does not change.
How long am I entitled to unemployment benefits?
The right to unemployment benefits as a recent graduate is valid for one year - or the equivalent of 1924 hours.
When should I sign up?
The unique right to unemployment benefits without accrual requires you to enrol no later than 14 days after your last exam date. If you enrol later, you must first earn the right to unemployment benefits and you lose the special rights as a recent graduate.
