New circus training programme
high-level starts in 2026
No high-level circus artists have been trained in Denmark since the pilot programme at Amoc ended in 2018. This is all about to change as Copenhagen Contemporary Circus College (CCCC) opens a new 3-year programme in contemporary circus.
CCCC is an independent circus school that expects to admit 10 students to start in September 2026. The programme opens for applications on 4 April 2026.
The circus school will be located in the historic seaplane hangar on Holmen, with space and headroom for artistic training in circus subjects.
The programme, which qualifies artists at bachelor level, will offer training and education across a wide range of circus disciplines. According to CCCC websitewhich, among other things, describes the school's purpose as follows:
"At CCCC, students are encouraged to explore their full creative and physical potential. We support the development of both technical skills and artistic voice, and we aim to strengthen students' ability to reflect, take initiative and contribute meaningfully to contemporary performing arts - as solo artists and as part of collective processes."
The school is a private initiative established by JA Circus to fill a gap in the performing arts education landscape.
Circus training is free, but not yet S.U-eligible
The programme is free of charge for students, except for an annual tuition fee that will be announced in spring 2026.
The programme is not initially S.U. eligible for Danish student grants, but efforts are being made for public recognition and support.
The curriculum, circus disciplines, teaching team and the practicalities of entrance exams for the programme will also be published in spring 2026.
