Take a critical look at new AI additions to your record deal
We get more enquiries from artists who are contacted by their record label about possible use of recordings in AI collaborations. Artists' rights and terms in these agreements are still unclear.
At present, there is no transparency about what these collaborations contain and what the artists get out of the new business models. The Danish Artist Association has asked the companies to account for the use of artists' rights in these projects and is awaiting a response.
In our opinion, standard record contracts do not cover this type of utilisation of the music, and therefore the rights still belong to you as the creator. The union has made it clear to the music companies that they cannot simply use the recorded works in AI projects.
The Danish Artist Association recommends that you as an artist or music creator do not approve or sign new addendums or changes to contracts and agreements until there is clarity about terms, scope and finances.
All members can get help and advice from our legal department. We help you from start to finish and can also negotiate with the record label on your behalf.
