YouSee rolls
Danish artists and musicians
The conflict has been ongoing since YouSee cancelled all agreements with the rights holders in March 2024 and filed a lawsuit with the Maritime and Commercial Court, demanding a reduction in payment of more than 70 % for the same contentt as before in the TV packages.
Since then, a temporary agreement has been reached on a partial payment and in order to get a quick and expert clarification, the rights holders have asked to have the cases decided by the Copyright Licence Board, which was established by the Danish Parliament for this very purpose.
After a long process in which the parties have submitted 14 pleadings and approximately 90 appendices to the Board, YouSee has announced that it will not participate in the Board's processing of the case.

"It's completely unacceptable that major players are bullying music artists and not recognising the Danish model. A threat to the rights system is a threat to the artistic professions. We cannot accept that global capital funds try to avoid paying for the use of music and performances," says Sara Indrio.
"Using artistic content to boost your business is very attractive, and it's only fair that artists are compensated. That's why we stand up for the rights system together"
The Danish Parliament has set up the Copyright Licensing Board to resolve any disagreements about pricing, and YouSee should recognise this, she believes:
"The board has the competence to determine the amount of payment for the use of content, and I would strongly urge YouSee and its owners to recognise the Danish model and to re-enter the Copyright Licensing Board process."
